Helpful Handouts

Below are some handouts from Ms. Maria, our school guidance counselor.  It might be helpful for  parents to have the same training information that the teachers do. This may lead to better classroom and school discipline as well as at home.

Community Helpers

For the past two weeks, we have been learning about community helpers and have had a chance to speak to a few and experience some in the classroom.

We had the fire department out to speak to the children about what it is like to be a fireman and about fire prevention, so please talk to your kids about what needs to be done in the case of a fire. The kids LOVED getting to explore the truck!

We also had some parents come in and share with the kids. Tosh’s mom visited the class and spoke with the children about her job as a social worker.  Sage’s dad came and talked to the class about how he designs tools and the children were even able to create their own screwdrivers! We also talked about construction workers, made tool belts and tried out lots of different tools.  Sage’s mom also came in and spoke to the children about being a yoga instructor and taught them a few moves.  What a blast!

Finally, we learned about chefs, and as you can see, the children had a great time making their own chef hats and decorating cupcakes!
